The Recruiting Process Nearly Broke Me

What happened

Junior year was supposed to be exciting. Instead I was obsessing over rankings, emailing coaches, and comparing myself to every player in my class. I couldn't sleep.

How it felt

Like my entire future depended on the next 12 months. The uncertainty was unbearable. I stopped enjoying games because I was always wondering who was watching.

What helped

Talking to a senior on my team who had been through it. He reminded me that the school you go to doesn't determine the player you become.

Advice to another athlete

The recruiting process is designed to feel urgent. Try to remember that most of the decisions being made are about fit, not your worth as a person.
