About

Why I Created Beyond the Score

As junior athletes, we spend so much time working on our physical game, but almost no one teaches us how to handle the mental side of sports.

Pressure, tough losses, confidence, recruiting, injuries, burnout. Every athlete goes through these things, but most of us don't talk about them.

I created Beyond the Score because I wanted a place where athletes could be honest about what they're going through. A place where you can read real stories from other athletes, share your own experiences anonymously, and realize you're not the only one who has felt this way.

Beyond the Score is also about learning. Along with stories from athletes, you'll find easy-to-understand summaries of sports psychology research and mental performance studies. My goal is to take what researchers have learned about confidence, resilience, focus, and performance, and turn it into practical advice that athletes, parents, and coaches can actually use.

At the end of the day, this isn't about becoming a perfect athlete.

It's about becoming a healthier, happier one.
